Christmas Eve Eve

Do you hear what I hear? It’s the magical sound of espresso beans whirling around machines in Dublin Starbucks as they await my arrival. And if you listen really closely, you’ll also here the cocktail shakers being chilled in preparation for my martinis at the Octagon Bar (Bonjour Bono… make ready my bar stool).

Tomorrow we are off to Dublin to spend nine glorious days surrounded by English speakers where I can let my brain get all lazy as I turn off my internal translator. And as for speaking English, well I don’t plan on shutting up at all. I’m going to talk, talk, talk. Plus I’ll be aided by copious amounts of Gingerbread Lattes to help me on my chatterbox quest (Christmas in a cup… yum!). I’m sure for my family Christmas 2010 will forever be remembered as, ‘that Christmas where Sara never shut up.’ How very lucky for them.

Today I’m packing the suitcases, making the rounds to Le Villagers dropping off Rice Krispie Treats (this Christmas, I’m giving a taste of America), and saying au revoir to Le Petit Village…

    That feeling of scoring the long-lost Starbie's and popping back into your favorite bar after being gone for a while – it's GLORIOUS!!! Talk up a storm, sister -(I'll be doing the same in English with my dad in Florida – except my dad located an old Italian woman for me to 'play with' – we all know it's a distraction.)     I've definitely been enjoying getting to speak English all the time, but I'm finding pesky French phrases keep coming to my mind before English ones some of the time!Yesterday, my mom's cat was cleaning himself, and I wanted to say, “Look mom! Barney fait sa toilette!”

    Ah, that tiny Dublin castle. It's so cute, I remember touring it and thinking that Irish people were playing fast and loose with the term castle.I hope you have an amazing holiday! And that you speak English to your heart's content.

    Sara,I'm so jealous! Ireland! I've always wanted to go there! My son is in the Air Force, stationed in England, been there for a year and coming home this Wed. That is the one place I wanted him to go so I could live vicareously, but, of course that's the one place he didn't get to! I'll raise my starbucks to you knowing you will have a wonderful time!
