My vacuum died three weeks ago, and so far I've been using a broom. How did women ever survive homekeeping with only a broom and dustpan? sigh. A new vacuum has to wait unfortunately, I'm currently paying for my dentist's summer vacation. Nice sunny view there. It's cold here though, how bout there?

“Happy as a clam at high water.” Hide tide is when clams are free from the attentions of predators; surely the happiest of times in the bivalve mollusc world. (I cheated and Googled.)

Your happiness definitely is contagious! As soon as you mentioned you got something I just KNEW it was the vacuum. And voila! I was right. (on a funny side note, the ad right next to my comment box is for govacuum.com and the picture is of a little red vacuum.)

Wait–Husband? Did I somehow miss when you guys got married? Well congratulations and much happiness!!! Also, you are off to a great start. My sweetie also convinced me to buy some inferior vacuum when I wanted a Dyson and after his vacuum failed in the first week I returned it and got my beloved Dyson and now we are living happily ever after. : )

So I went back to the posts I missed last week when I was out of town and I just have to say you looked beautiful in your wedding tunic and the church was to-die-for perfect. Wedding dinner looked great too. I'm happy for you!!

For those who want to know, according to more than one source, “happy as a clam” originated mid-1800s. It's shortened from the full phrase “happy as a clam in high water” or “happy as a clam at high tide.” Meaning the clam is free from the attention of predators and is therefore happy.

Oh my goodness, I am catching up on some of your posts – smiling the whole time: 1) because you are a riot; 2) I totally get these things which make us happy in life … sometimes they are the smallest. You, my dear, GET IT; and that, in itself, makes me incredibly happy for you. Smiles and raising my morning cappuccino (finally from my own machine again) to you! Valerie
