stylish happenings

(DISCLAIMER: There’s supposed to be a Stylish Blogger Award button here, but blogger is being finicky and isn’t letting me upload it and I really don’t have the patience this morning so please use your imagination and picture that black square button with silver cursive here instead of this rambling note. Thank you.)

This Stylish Blogger Award is brought to me by The Many Colours of Happiness (thank you kindly Many Colours).

And to shake it up (as I usually do), instead of seven stylish things about me (not feeling very stylish these days… key word… tracksuit pants), this edition of the Stylish Blogger Award will be some of my  observations and some happenings in Le Petit Village this past weekend.
………………………………………………………………………………………………….

1. Saturday afternoon there were two horses tied up outside Le Petit Bar, which I have to admit made me think I was back in Bandera, Texas for a second (the cowboy capital of the world if you don’t know… according to the people of Bandera anyway). Who rode their horse here? And why don’t I have one? And who is going to clean up the rather large presents they left on the street?

2. I’m anxiously waiting for La Petite’s left over umbilical stub to fall off. That thing is freaking me out.

3. Trees are being cut down in front of my house, and rumor has it it’s to clear space to put up benches and picnic tables for tourists. This is not settling well. I appreciate that they will have a gorgeous view of the Provence countryside, but now I’m going to have a not so gorgeous view of them.

4. I’ve been feeding milk to feral cats hoping to make one a pet. I think Fifty could use a little buddy (and he’s definitely going to need a distraction if tourists are constantly picnicking outside my house… non-stop barking).

5. The Parisian is getting married next weekend. We’re heading to French French Mommy’s for Easter and will miss the celebration so I’m a little bummed (not really, I’ll be getting spoiled and stuffing myself with Bleu d’Auvergne, escargot and wandering around the wine cellar), but I am making Martha Stewart pompoms to decorate the bar for them before I go. No one here knows who Martha Stewart is but they will by the time I’m finished. How very lucky for them.

6. The Husband not only baked rosemary bread, but he also whipped up some mousse au chocolat which made him dance around the house shouting that he made moose ca-ca. Bless.

7. My old neighbor, Mrs Curtainmaker has opened a little boutique in her house. I haven’t walked in yet, but I will I soon as I can ditch Fifty. I’m really hoping the clothes are all made out of curtains, Sound of Music Style. I’m picturing an afternoon picnic; The Husband, Honey Jr, Brother-in-Law, Child Bride, The Parisian, and me, all in our curtain clothes, spinning around the Luberon. The hills are alive with the sound of lunacy.

La belle in France and American Girls Are…  are two stylish girls in France who I’m sure have seven delightful and stylish things to tell you.

(and haven’t been living in tracksuit pants)

  1. As I'm sitting here in MY track pants and t-shirt, I'm wondering if Madame Curtainmaker will make me Scarlet O'Hara's green dress out of green velvet curtains. I won't frolic and picnic but I will march down the street giving orders. And that will feel SO good!

  2. Allow Fifty to use the Tourist spot as his “spot”. A few doggy landmines should do the trick.A large “Beware of Nazi Ghost Zombies” sign couldn't hurt either. Be well little one.

  3. The reason why I have refrained from having offspring of my own is that I simply cannot cope with that brown umbilical left-over. No thanks. Give me birth, drooping mammarys, all of it – just dont have me deal with an umbilical crust. 'nuff said. (le petite is a adorable, though) Miss Tx

  4. #2 Made me spit coffee, I laughed so hard. How long does it take for it to fall off? Just… ew.#6 Aren't these baking/cooking husbands just wonderful? I tell you, mine never ceases to amaze me with what he can whip up at the stovetop.#7 Would soooo make a good piece of story plotline pie. Mrs. Curtainmaker sounds like a fabulous secondary character in a sweet yet sassy romantic comedy. A la French style, of course. 🙂

  5. I totally agree about umbilical stubs being creepy. Have you seen the Sex and the City episode where the umbilical stub from Miranda's baby falls off and then the cat plays with it? It totally grossed me out! Be careful about having your ferrel cat pet around when La Petite's bébé is over, haha.

  8. Tracksuit pants are my most favorite thing to wear when I don't have to leave the house… and more often than not they end up leaving the house with me for random errands… What can I say? Soft velour makes my heart happy, not to mention my tush!Rosemary bread and moose ca-ca sounds sublime! I'm so glad you two are having fun in le petit village! =)<3 MuffinLovesBiscuit

  11. Ohhh Bandera, TX. That's not far from where I grew up. I think they're dirty liars by deeming themselves the cowboy capital of the world, though.

  12. Um wow, the husband cooks bread and chocolate? Where did you buy him? I would like to purchase one of those… =) (especially if they wind up so they are on when you want them and off when you dont) another smile face!

I love him for you — I mean seriously, how cute is he?!?!?!And, as to the horses — I imported them for you from Bandera. From one Sarah to another Sara. A little taste of home. But, the 'moose ca-ca' is all yours to clean. Maybe Fifty wants to roll around in it?

  14. Escargots – you risk being rather smelly over Easter.I've not been reading blogs for a while, Sara, so glad to re-discover you this morning. My second book now with my new agent in London, I have started writing the third which is based in Normandy.

  15. It was so nice to have a minute to stop, visit you in Le Petit Village while I wait for il technico to come fix my washing machine. Love that the “great big girl” bakes bread, btw – boo for the touristy park bench additions! Big hugs from across the border!

  16. Hahaha I loved your answers!! It's a shame that they're cutting down the trees, how annoying. I hope one of the feral cats becomes your pet, that's how we got all of our childhood pets 🙂
