on the bright side

Hi everyone! (Saying ‘bonjour tout le monde’ doesn’t seem right anymore since I’m not in France… but you know what, scr*w it, I like saying it. Let’s start over.)

Bonjour tout le monde! Here we are, another Friday, another month almost gone. It’s frightening how fast it goes by, isn’t it? Yesterday marked the two month mark since Gregory’s arrival (and my three month will be next week…eek!), which means we only have one month left until Gregory’s three month visa is up. Yep, at the end of June, Gregory will be returning to France. But have no fear, he won’t be there too long as the Green Card process is swimming right along. Plus, he’ll be reunited with Mr. London, his faithful Bumder, so we won’t be too sad for him.

I had planned on posting Gregory’s vlog today, answering all of your questions, but we had some technical difficulties so that’s on hold for a couple of days, but on the bright side, if you thought of anything else you’d like to ask Gregory, you still have a chance.

Let’s see… what else is happening… after a couple of weeks of really meek weather here (like grey skies, thunderstorms and rain), the sun has finally returned. Well, it’s returned for the time being anyway, it’s supposed to rain again over the weekend. That’s fine, heaven knows Texas needs it. And rain means going to the cinema and being lazy on the couch. Bonus of being lazy on the couch, I get to curl up with my current read, Galway Bay. It’s a goody.

So let me ask you my friends, what do you have planned for this fine weekend, and what are you reading? I’m feeling nosy, indulge me please. MUAH!

  7. I just finished “A Good American” for my book club. Decent, historical fiction tale about an immigrant family in the US at the turn of the last century.I was also consecutively reading “Mastering the Art of Soviet Cooking.” I'm enjoying it because it really is a fascinating look at how the USSR was (I think many Americans know that USSR bad, America good etc). Some bits were a bit heavy in regards to the whole Communist doctrine but interesting all the same. Doing? Trying to do blog clean up after migrating from Blogger to WordPress and hopefully adapting my book to be ready for Kindle format. Fun times indeed :)Continued good luck with the whole green card process!

  9. Being lazy on the couch is what we did ALL last weekend. It was wonderful! We're expecting more rain this weekend, so maybe we'll try to hit a museum tomorrow? Not sure yet!I'm reading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern right now. I'm about halfway through and I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. Kind of slow, I guess, but still interesting enough for me to keep going. I'll have to add Galway Bay to my to-read list!

  10. I can't believe that you have been over there three months already! The weather here in England is horrible at the moment – cold and very wet so we don't yet have any great plans for the weekend. Staying dry is my priority! So disappointing for May going into June. I'm currently reading Quiet Paris which is making me want to book another trip.

  11. Good luck with the green card stuff! If you need any help or have questions let me know! It took 1.5 years but I FINALLY got my german over to the states 🙂 As for the weekend, not much planned yet. I started reading another nerdy Medieval Fantasy book called The Way of Kings. It's nerdy. I'M NOT ASHAMED. I actually love it. ❤ Daryl Unlost New Post: What Does Success Mean To You?

  13. I'm so sad that you guys have to be apart for a while – I wish he could stay! (Insert an “it's not fair” tantrum here – not that I ever have those. I mean, not often. Okay, like once a week. WHATEVER.) I wonder if he'll get culture shock when you guys move to the Berkshires after three months in Texas! Texas is it's own country I hear 😛

  15. Planned for this weekend: completing the tax return (I wish France would do PAYE like the UK!) cooking, and blogging. Plus planning English lessons for next week (I must get on and do them!) Reading, at the moment, “The Fall” by Simon Mawer (On-line review here: http://www.publishersweekly.com/978-0-316-09780-2) which I am finding quite gripping. With the sun shining at the moment, I may just make a cup of coffee and go onto the balcony for a quiet read before tackling those lesson plans!Looking forward to hearing from Gregory!

  17. So this isn't highbrow but I kid myself that it's improving my French! I have a pile of Art et Deco that I'm catching up on and trying to get inspiration for a tricky client. But also indulging in the 'when I get to France my kitchen…'

  19. I saw Mr London on the tele this evening. I'm sure you know why! He was looking very very happy.Do you remember fellow blogger Sam Vérant? I've just finished reading a pre-publication version of her book about the seven letters from her now husband. It was lovely… soooo romantic. My own personal Frenchie said he wanted to have a few words with Jean-Luc because he was setting the bar extremely high and he was making it much more difficult for the rest of them Frenchies to seduce young American ladies (not that he's in the running for such a thing any more! Roight!), and then when I told him the JL had previously been married to a young Russian, he perked right up and wanted to know all the goss. (ip). Never a dull minute chez nous… 🙂
