Dearest Gentle Reader

I’m blocked.

The dreaded writer’s block has fallen upon me. A few months ago, I thought I was unblocked, but I find myself blocked again, and I hate it.

My brain spins and spins and tosses and turns, but alas, nothing.

So I’m turning to you, my dearest gentle readers (clearly, you know what I’ve been bingeing), to help me unblock the block.

While some of you have been with me since the very beginning, l’époque du petit village, there are some of you who began reading during my C’est Moi, Sara Louise era, and miraculously, some that even found me while I was burning it all down.

Through these phases and pages, you have read my stories, held my hand, laughed and cried with me, and gotten to know me. But surely, there must be more.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane, shall we?

Jog my memory. What’s the story you want me to tell?

Yours truly,
Sara Louise

  1. Did I miss why exactly Indiana?

or maybe the Irish-Málaga mamá (and how did she get to Malaga…are you both digital nomads?)

or did you grow up traveling?

and I kinda miss the cousin!

All that LPV gossip was gooood! You’re an awesome writer, you’ve got to dig up some dirt in the new ‘hood, or make it up. The bar in your last place, GNK, has the perfect name for some tea-spilling, nickname-wielding drama!

    1. Ooooh love the questions! When you say “the cousin” do you mean Mrs London that was based in Toulon, or The Cousin who featured in a lot of the earlier posts?

I concur with Laura’s comment about Goodnight Kenny’s – got to be some tales from there. Also, although it might be too raw still, the Fifty rescue from a dumpster always a good one.

Any tales from the BoSI days too – some good times had on nights out then!

  3. Ditto to the suggestions above. I have read your stuff since almost the beginning. I would like to know how you ended up in the petit village in the first place. I loved Fifty and miss hearing about him, too. RIP. ‘Find your quiet place and relax for a while. Things will come to you once you relax and find your core. I am sending positive vibes to you.

  4. YOU MADE ME PEE IN A CUP ON THE WAY TO MEXICO. Lunch at the Red Lion Inn and then a Norman Rockwell museum visit. Our visits to all the Charlottes in London (Charlottes, W5, Bistro) – Charlottes which ended up blowing up. Giving me mojitos to sober me up. Bloody Marys at Bank building. Eating at the Globe on the south bank of the Thames and Maggie posting up to some dude and yelling “BOO!” Hopping back and forth between Dublin and London to see each other. Rave girl dancing at Cameo. Watching “Jerry Springer” everyday in the summer in my parents kitchen and it being interrupted – for multiple days in a row – about the Columbine shooting and how we were like “This is the beginning of the end.” Beekman Arms Easter brunch with the best fucking kale I’ve ever eaten with that creamy lemon dressing. Eilo head-butt the fridge. And got a life-sized Putin and a wheelchair. “Felicity” was our show and we watched it in Eilos living room all the time. Once, when Eilo was out of town and she came back home, the kitchen faucet screen was missing. Just some random ideas I thought of to potentially jog anything memory adjacent in your brain. Also, don’t forget, we once passed by the worlds most exciting bank AND saw a “Four Seasons” landscape truck in NY.

  5. I’ve been reading since le petit village, and I’d like to hear some funny stories about the night life! I also remember you jokingly referred to someone as a “child bride.” Do they marry young there?

    1. HAHA! Not particularly. That was my sister-in-law. She was just past her 18th birthday and pushing nine months of pregnancy when she married my ex’s brother. https://cestmoisaralouise.com/2011/02/21/shotgun-wedding/

  7. I’ve been reading your adventures since the beginning in the village. Was sooo sad when you left Europe!
    1. What were your favourite things about living in Europe?

    2. Would you ever go back to live in Europe?

    3. Never really understood the Ireland & Spain connection. Would love some info to sort out my confusion.

  8. I’d love to hear more about:-

Your Mum and her early life in Ireland and then her emigration to America and how she met your Dad. Also, why she decided to leave her life and friends in the USA and move to Spain in later life.

Your Irish family, I sense there is a lot of love and support there.

How did your brother end up living in Scotland?

What have Mr and Mrs London been up to and is Mr London still friends with the bigamist.

Why the move from New York to Indiana and is a move to Spain likely soon?

Fifty’s backstory and how you found him.

Hope your block unblocks itself soon, it must be incredibly frustrating. Perhaps you need a Muse.

I have a post in there somewhere about my parents’ backstory, I’ll have to see if I can find it… I was able to find Fifty’s though https://cestmoisaralouise.com/2009/12/07/le-woof-woof/
No brother in Scotland, but considering we’re here, there, and everywhere, that’s an easy mix up.
I was lucky enough to visit The Londons two years ago when they were in Biarritz, they’re in Aix en Provence these days, and no, they are no longer friends.
I agree, I think I need a muse. Now, to figure out where to find one 🤔

  9. Hi Sara!

A couple of years ago, I was googling the French culture and came across your blog. I read the posts that took place in the petit village, and enjoyed getting to “know” the people who lived in that village. Whatever happened to Honey Jr? It seemed to me you guys were friends back in the day!

    1. Hi Liz! Honey Jr and Honey’s Honey have a little boy and a girl. They live in Le Petit Village and have taken over his parents’ honey business. You can say, that life is very sweet for my old friend.
